The German navy equipped to deal with new threats – Thales
Warships today are major hubs of communications, and they need to stay connected with multiple sources of information. Increased connectivty brings new threats, and makes cybersecurity a major challenge. Damen and Thales have been chosen to build four multi-purpose frigates for the German Navy, based on their expertise in naval shipbuilding and the integration of advanced cyber-secure combat systems. The 160-metre-long vessels will be operated by a crew of over 100 sailors and carry out a broad range of missions, including surveillance, rescue, humanitarian aid and support of special forces.
